******************************************************* AMERICAN REVOLUTION ESSAY CONTEST OPEN TO ALL SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Build your college resume, earn recognition and monetary award.
The General Richard Montgomery Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, announces the 2010-11 Knight Essay Contest open to all high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. The National Association of Secondary School Principles has approved this essay program. The essay must address an event, person, philosophy, or idea associated with the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution. Length is 800 to 1200 words. For a copy of the complete rules go to www.sar.org, click on Youth/Education, then click Knight Essay Contest, then click Essay Contest Rules. Submissions may be made through your school or directly to Dr. Richard J. Erickson, 2220 Lizmar Lane, Montgomery, Alabama 36106, and must be received by November 29, 2010. Include your name, grade and school. First, second and third place winners at local, state and national level will receive monetary awards, medals and/or certificates. National winner will receive additional recognitions (see contest rules). ******************************************************** The General Richard Montgomery Chapter meets for lunch at the Montgomery Country Club on the third Wednesday of the months of January through April and September through November. In May we have a Social and in December, we have a formal evening banquet. The meetings, social and banquet are open to members, prospective members, and other invited guests. The Chapter operates on a calendar year basis and officers are installed for the coming year at the December meeting.
