Good Morning,

On behalf of over 700 members of the Alabama Society, Sons of the American Revolution, I am here to honor Eddie Bowling for his contributions to our great Society.

Each of us whom you see in a Revolutionary War uniform have at least one ancestor who participated in the American Revolution, including Eddie, and we are proud to display that same spirit of liberty that was won and given to us by our forefathers.  We all have the blood of patriots flowing in our veins, and we will not forget their sacrifices that gave us the liberties we enjoy today.

In the three years that Eddie has been involved in SAR activities, he has distinguished himself by participating in many events that honor our Revolutionary War heritage.  Members of The Sons of the American Revolution honor our patriot ancestors by marking their graves with a bronze medallion, and Eddie has been a part of the color guard for many of those grave markings in counties throughout the state.  He has participated in commemorations of Revolutionary War battles in Georgia and South Carolina, and has been a vital part of our color guard at chapter and state meetings, in Mississippi as well as in Alabama.

He was featured on the cover of the American Village Magazine, and in the American Village videotape of Patrick Henry’s Spirit of Liberty.

Eddie, would you please come forward for a presentation?

By the authority vested in me as the President of the Alabama Society, Sons of the American Revolution, I hereby award Stephen Edward Bowling the Bronze Good Citizenship Medal for his extraordinarily strong support of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Bronze Color Guard medal for his three years’ participation as a color guard member.  You have our entire Society’s deep debt of gratitude for a service well done.

Will Lt. Colonel Glenn Nivens, U.S. Army, retired, Eddie’s grandfather, please assist me in the pinning?
