The Shoals Area Chapter, Alabama Society, Sons of the American Revolution, was chartered on October 8, 2011.  Its application for charter membership consisted of 25 members, 4 junior members, 7 applications pending approval by the NSSAR and 24 prospective applicants.  Its regular monthly meeting is at 2:00 PM on the second Sunday afternoon of the month with the exception of May when it meets the Third Sunday and June, July and August when it does not meet.  It meets in the Sheffield Public Library Meeting Room, 316 N. Montgomery Avenue, Sheffield, Alabama.  Wives of members, prospective members, representatives of other patriotic organizations and others interested in the patriotic, historical and educational objectives of the Sons of the American Revolution are welcome at meetings.  Contact Secretary Gene Gooch (256-766-4011 or genetgooch@att.net) prior to the meeting to ensure the meeting time and place has not been changed.

Programs at Meetings

Each meeting has a program focused on a historical, educational and/or patriotic theme related to the American Revolutionary Era.

 

Qualifications for Membership

Each member has traced his family tree back to an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783.
