Alabama Ladies Auxiliary President, Abby Alexander, presented Past-president Leannne Cornwell with a plaque of appreciation for her outstanding service to the auxiliary and to the Alabama Sons of the American Revolution at the October BOM while Alabama SAR President John Killian looks on.

Eight members of the Ladies Auxiliary attended the Board of Managers meeting in Montgomery on Oct. 3, 2009. They were Hazel Phillips, Pam Caraway, Elizabeth Wells, Joan Erickson, Leanne Cornwell, Rita Pickette, Linda Graham, and Abby Alexander. After their business meeting, the women prepared and served lunch to the SAR members.

NEW OFFICERS INSTALLED
At the Alabama State SAR Convention in Mobile, a new slate of officers for the Ladies Auxiliary was sworn in by Mrs. Robin Butler, wife of President-General Judge Edward Butler. The officers for 2009 Ð 2010 are President Abby Alexander, Vice-President Linda Graham; Secretary Linda Maples, Treasurer Rita Pickett; Historian Hazel Phillips; Chaplain Elizabeth Wells. _________________________________________
LEANNE CORNWELL
Leanne Cornwell, our first and recent past president of the Alabama Ladies Auxiliary served two terms during the organization’s foundational years. Due to her outstanding leadership, vision, and hard work, the Ladies Auxiliary has been very successful in its growth and projects. Each year during her tenure as president, the Ladies Auxiliary donated $1000 for the youth programs of the Alabama Sons of the American Revolution.
ALEXANDER PRSENTS CHECK TO BRADLEY
Abby Alexander, President of the Alabama Ladies Auxiliary of the SAR, presented a check of $250 to Jane Bradley, national President of the Ladies Auxiliary, at the National SAR Congress in Atlanta. The donation was given to the Center for the Advancement of American Heritage. ___________________________________________
LADIES AUXILIARY MEETS AT AMERICAN VILLAGE
The Alabama Ladies Auxiliary met at the American Village on May 2, 2009, while the state SAR held its Board of Managers meeting. It was decided during the business meeting of the ladies auxiliary to continue the fundraising project of selling tickets for chapter baskets at the next state convention in Birmingham. Each SAR chapter is being asked to bring or send a basket of items to the state convention in February. The money that is raised from these baskets will be used for SAR projects.

WHO ARE WE?
The Alabama Ladies Auxiliary is a service organization whose purpose is to assist the national and state SAR societies in achieving their goals and objectives. The ladies auxiliary also supports the various projects and activities of the SAR.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We encourage our members to do whatever they can to help with their local SAR chapter activities. The auxiliary members can help with the youth programs, service projects, grave markings, chapter banquets, fundraisers, school programs, etc. The proceeds of our state fundraisers go to the state youth programs.
The Alabama Ladies Auxiliary also supports the National Ladies Auxiliary through providing baskets and donations for their fundraisers, by participating in their projects, by selling and purchasing their cookbook. The money that is raised by the national auxiliary goes to the SAR Center for the Advancement of American Heritage.
WHEN DO WE MEET?
The Alabama Ladies Auxiliary meets 3 times per year: in February, at the State SAR Convention; in May, at the spring Board of Managers Meeting; in Oct., at the fall Board of Managers meeting.
WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?
Women who are related by marriage or bloodline to men in the SAR and those who are related to deceased SAR members are eligible for membership in the state and national ladies auxiliaries. We welcome any wives, daughters, mothers, sisters, etc. to become active members of the Alabama Ladies Auxiliary.
WHAT ARE THE MEMBERSHIP DUES?
Membership dues are only $5.00 per year. Members of the Alabama Ladies Auxiliary are automatically members of the National Ladies Auxiliary organization.
HOW CAN I JOIN?
In order to join the Alabama Ladies Auxiliary of the SAR, please contact one of the Ladies Auxiliary officers, or a state SAR officer, or the president of your local SAR chapter about membership. ___________________________________________
